Hey everybody. This means that the plan is to deport anyone that is deportable and then use the prison system as labor/workers instead. Slaves. The prison system owners will get their cut of “wages” and the stock holders will get their cut as well. The prisoners(slaves) will get to “work” off their sentances.
May as well call them plantations
Nah, I’m sure they’ll “deport” them to a concentration camp, then force them into slave labor.
Private prison stocks.
I want us to think about that phrase for just a fucking moment.
Soon to be concentration camp stocks!
It disgusts me that such a business is even legal.
How long before they can use the prison population as collateral like the good ol days when the central bank was formed using slaves as collateral.
I wouldn’t be shocked if that’s how prison corps run their balance sheets, actually.
The stock market is such a predatory thing… we’re just so systemically fucked in this reality.
Capitalism thrives on the violence of the state.
Nazis abound. I wonder how many 401k and mutual fund investors would be horrified if they knew they were invested in these?
Not as many as you would hope. Just ask the “I have nothing to hide” demographic…
Say I find out my 401k is investing in this. What do I do to get out of the situation? Would I have to completely stop contributing to it (and lose employer matching) or something else?
I do have a 401k but before that I really loved investing on my own and avoiding this stuff. I wish I could have them dump the funds into my own account but obviously that’s not possible.
I don’t know this for a fact, but it’s possible ESG funds would leave stocks like these out of their portfolios.
Good question. Pressure your employer or HR about it, they have the power to pressure the managers of the fund to divest.
Divestment has worked for large institutions; for example my university divested from some industries with bad human rights abuses.
i wonder how many of donvict’s comrades and accomplices hold stock in them.
I would like to say I’m surprised, but I’m really not… you could see this one coming from a green mile away.
