“Destroy him, my robots” from Impossible Mission on the C64.
It was the first videogame I ever heard talk. And full disclosure, 5 year old me, thought it said, “destroy him my-rin bolts”. It wasn’t until years later, my dad actually corrected me.

CONGRATULATIONS!

CONSIDER YOURSELF A HERO.
I still get a feeling of pride reading those words. Even more when I didn’t use the Konami code.
I only pulled it off with three lives once. It was an endeavor.
Contra and Mario were games I had mastered. Contra I could do reliably with 3 lives. When I was in grade 2 I remember starting up Super Mario 1 and selecting 2 players because my friend was over. Beat the game without giving him a chance. The game didn’t even switch to Luigi after saving the princess.
If you want some real nostalgia, there’s a great cover of the music by VomitroN. They cover the entire game but I’ve linked the end credits here.
Love it! My favorite NES covers are done by the Minibosses
Like Mario and Princess Beach.
