PCGamer really hates doing journalism mhm ? You have to figure out which link goes back to the actual article about the mentioned report, and then find which link directly goes to the report : https://www.adl.org/resources/report/steam-powered-hate-top-gaming-site-rife-extremism-antisemitism
The full report actually provides a lot more information and answers some legitimate questions, and other ignorant comments raised in here, there’s an entire appendix about their method and how they fine tuned an ai model to review 150+ million profile pictures / 600+ million comments
There’s also interesting info about the customization of Steam profile, which I don’t remember Steam publicly sharing :
At the time of data collection, Steam Community had 458.32 million users. Of these, 418.4 million were public profiles and 39.68 million were private profiles (even if a profile was private, there was certain related information that was publicly available).
Many of Steam Community’s 458.32 million users have not customized their accounts extensively. Only 7.4% of public profiles have a summary, Steam Community’s equivalent of a social media bio. 41.8% of profiles use Steam community’s default profile picture, making it the most common avatar on Steam, present on 191.2 million profiles.
Most Steam Community users are also not particularly active. One proxy for activity is player level, which users can increase by activities such as buying games or collecting trading cards while playing games on Steam. Among the 91.69% of Steam Community users who publicize their level, the average level is 2.8 and the median level is 0.0 (the maximum level observed was 5,001). Our detections should be interpreted with this context in mind.
I mean that’s one of life’s main lesson, right ? You can be nice, invested, do everything right, and still fail
Oh yes ! I discovered those thanks to Shut Up And Sit Down’s review, they look super fun
I only ever heard about the name, sounds super fun, thanks!
I’ve only played the demo of Darkest Dungeon 2 so no idea about the changes, I liked the cart riding segment, it’s a fun way to take breaks between battles, I’ll take a look !
I’m playing Hidden Folks (2017) on Steam Deck, to chill in the evening, it’s probably the best where’s waldo game on steam ? I don’t find the cats series at all engaging
I also reinstalled Darkest Dungeon (2016), this time for sure I will commit to it and not stop after 3 runs 🤡
I’m 10 years younger and I feel the same, granted, I still game a lot, but I find myself more excited about the ideas and potential of a game, than actually playing it.
I think it’s a normal thing, you gotta get tired of a hobby after so many years, and it’s a healthy thing to cycle it out and pick up something else, and maybe come back to it some time later
I really think they shot themselves in the feet by going from a pve online coop game like Helldivers to whatever this is trying to be, that plus the pricing chance (it was supposed to be f2p and is now 40)…
Then again, I don’t know what’s up internally, they probably know what they’re doing, it still feels like it’s not going to be popular
Also what did they get out of the strike? It sounds wrong that they’d still end the strike even if no demands were met
Strike as posturing is counter effective, it just sends the message to wait it out
I use MiniReview (https://minireview.io/) to have better sorting options for games on Google’s Play Store, you can specifically sort for screen orientation, monetisation (or lack of), genre, ads or not, etc
I LOVED it but at that time I was not patient enough to be curious about the various clues, and investigate everything available to explore. I ended up looking for some hints on the net instead of trying harder. It’s one of the best investigative games released. I still prefer Outer Wilds and Golden Idol, but Obra Dinn has such strong narration.
Pyre as well was super immersive, actually I enjoyed the game way more than Hades, but that’s because I was already burnt out of Rogue Likes when it released
Publishing a roadmap for bugfixing a released dlc was not on my bingo card
I’m a weird Deck gamer, in that I often start games and come back once in a while, which I never do on PC, where I try to finish one game at a time
It’s not really gameplay but : not rendering me deaf when launching the game for the first time, games need to have their volume down to 50% by default
I’ll skip the obvious ones with multiple artists like Furi, Katana Zero, Hotline Miami, Crypt of the Necrodancer…
Remember Me (2013) composed by Olivier Derivière
Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus (2018) composed by Guillaume David
Bastion (2011) composed by Darren Korb (anything by Darren Korb)
Styx: Master of Shadows (2014) composed by H-Pi
140 (2013) composed by Jakob Schmid
Death Crown (2019)
It’s as if a 4x was stripped down to the essentials, just you and the map and three building types, the gameplay is basically “try to overwhelm the enemy” and zerg rushing has been my winning strategy so far. Love the aesthetic though.
Narita Boy (2021)
I first played it close to release, but got bored of the story after a while, rediscovering this one on Steam Deck, the controls and combat has surprising depth !
Yes I believe they have received buffs on blood moon maps
We are losing reinforcements !
