I hate to defend a major party, but it does feel like people expect Democrats to fix all the nation’s problems when they have utterly no power to do so.
The reality is most Americans are not with Bernie on the things he’s talking about. The average American has been heavily propagandized by the corporate media (not just news media, all of it) to love corporate stuff. Capitalism good, socialism bad, cheap gas good, electric stoves bad. Go to most Americans in the rust belt, that’s how they think.
If Democrats are supposed to skip to the part where they implement policies that no one currently supports outside of liberal intellectual circles with all the power they supposedly have, that’s skipping to the end. What’s Bernie’s solution for getting people outside of Vermont on his side to begin with?
Many people vote based on identity and feelings, the only time they vote on policy is when it’s a specific policy issue like this one.
The Democratic nominee had an advantage of 19 to 29 points over her Republican rival, according to tallies by ABC News-Ipsos, New York Times-Siena College and CNN.
The lead is larger than the one Hillary Clinton had over Donald Trump in the run-up to the 2016 election when polls showed the Democratic nominee leading with 8 to 16 points.
Joe Biden had a greater margin in late 2020 polls when Democrats embraced mail voting, while Trump attacked it and persuaded his supporters not to do it.
Ok, so basically Democrats always have an advantage in early voting and it’s hard to know what to make of this. It’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect given that 2016 was before Trump heavily politicized early and mail-in voting and 2020 was during the pandemic when Democrats were less likely to want to go to crowded polling places because of the whole believing Covid exists thing.
This doesn’t bode well for my typewriting monkey startup
People are saying it’s the dogs, but given that it’s Tucker Carlson I think it’s far more likely that he’s just flat out lying.
True but if Tesla keeps acting like they’re on the verge of an unsupervised, steering wheel-free system…this is more evidence that they’re not. I doubt we’ll see a cybercab with no controls for the next 10 years if the current tech is still ignoring large, highly predictable objects in the road.
Because of slavery, basically. The US couldn’t have a directly-elected president at founding because that would mean slaveholding states would get less power per person actually living there, unless they wanted to let slaves vote which of course they wouldn’t. So 3/5ths compromise, electoral college, yadda yadda yadda, and 250 years later power still is filtered through the states. So now that that’s the case, giving any new people voting rights would change the power balance between the slaveholders right and abolitionists left. So as a result, places like PR that have an abnormal amount of minorities Democratic voters tend to be unable to get Congress to grant them voting rights.
Asked if they viewed Republican candidates’ use of anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric in their campaigns as “sad and shameful,” 41% of Republicans and 58% of independent voters agreed. That compares to 38% of Republicans and 25% of independents who do not think it’s “shameful.”
What happened to sad? What did you do with sad???
I doubt it’s any more than a social media rumor like the kinds that frequently spread on X.
Why would they tease it and not release it? Where does this claim even come from? The article just says the sources are “Several social media users, including commentators and reporters”. Then it seems like all the people tweeting about it are right wingers. I’m suspicious. Could be a distraction from the more credible stories about Trump loving Hitler and shitting on a slain soldier for having an expensive funeral for a Mexican.
It encourages self-reliance and fosters a sense of control. Sure everything in our lives is increasingly forced on us by corporations run by out of touch narcissists, but there’s at least one way we still can have control of our own.
Because most people don’t follow politics that closely and are simply unaware of stories like this, but are vulnerable to the forces of nostalgia and false memories of the first Trump administration, plus lingering fondness from the character he played on the Apprentice.

There’s a whole separate world of propaganda claims on X. Another one that I’m unfortunately aware of due to my republican relative: claim that Georgia’s Republican governor is planning to rig the election for Kamala by importing votes from overseas.
Part of the problem is that the images suck. Honestly. Here we see a bunch of body bags, we know literally nothing about who’s in them. But on Oct. 7 there were lots of images and video of what happened, with people’s faces visible.
The most effective thing that could be done to support Palestinians, infinitely more effective than spray painting neighborhoods and camping in public spaces, would be to give them cameras and a means of releasing video. As long as it’s just numbers, no one will care.
X/Twitter has its own data centers, this is for physical equipment under X’s control. They need to get a judgment (which the article indicates they’re working on) before they can do anything. Presumably after months to years of litigation they can then repossess the servers, but then X would probably at the last minute pay the bill.
Nope, I’m an anti-troll. Trolling is trying to provoke an emotional reaction. I’m trying to provoke a logical reaction.
13% of Democrats agree with Trump on that.
More proof of fake respondents. Basically some people, for whatever reason (depending on the poll it could be financial) just speed run the polls with no thought about what they’re clicking on. So it makes any extremely unpopular view appear more supported. I can’t find much about how this was done, if it was an online opt-in poll I’d be especially suspicious.
Edit: it seems this was done with a Ipsos KnowledgePanel, which as I suspected is an online, paid, opt-in panel. This is exactly the kind of design that’s prone to speed running for cash.
I wouldn’t be surprised though if Trump just ignores him and appoints a drug company lobbyist instead. RFK Jr. forgot Rule #1 when dealing with Trump: get paid up front.
