I didn’t say logging. I said forest management.
We need to control the brush and dead wood, indigenous fire control practices were very effective at this.
they are forks, lemmygrad, hexbear are integrated with many major lemmy instances
Not sure exactly what you’re asking, but it’s opt in.
So since I opted in, my mastodon account is shown as a bluesky account on bluesky.
But I can only follow bluesky accounts from mastodon if they’ve opted into the bridge, which seems to be a decent number, but still a small proportion. And the replies to my posts that are on bluesky, will only be visible to me from mastodon if the people replying have opted into the bridge.
I’m not using mastodon much anyways, because there are too little people there who care about what I post, but I use a service to post which automatically posts on mastodon / bluesky (and until last week when i opted out, twitter), so I’ll still be posting to mastodon even though it’s only for a handful of people compared to my 8k bluesky followers.
Man these “science communication” websites have become really clickbaity and exaggerate everything with barely any critical lens.
Yeah it works fine. My mastodon account has gained 40 followers from bluesky even though I have a bluesky account too!
Need better forest management.
The problem (except for climate change), is that historically these forests would have small burns every year or two which didn’t impact the trees, but kept shrubbery and dead wood in check.
We’ve become hypervigilant and put out those fires now. Which means we have tons of shrubbery and dead wood accumulated over decades, which would normally naturally be burned away every year or two, but we can’t burn it now, because it’s so much mass that the heat would reach a temperature that would also burn the trees.
So instead we’re stuck in this horrible hypervigilant loop, and when there’s a fire that inevitably happens and we can’t control, again because so much dead wood and shrubbery was left to accumulate, it destroys entire forests and ecosystems.
And that’s not to say it’s any use getting diagnosed, because there are no approved treatments, and the social security organisations barely recognise it.
Even though NASEM, the CDC, and NIH told them too.
I definitely agree with that. But I think to non-leftists it’ll be hard to get them to agree.
blocking doesnt block users on most UIs, only communities
oh wait I get what you’re saying now. Positioning as further left is probably not the best way to put it. It would be more accurate to say further from the mainstream opinion. I wonder if this is just the editorialisation of the piece I sent or language used in the actual paper they are summarising.
but the article is pretty clear that “tankies” aren’t the only “left wing extremists”
offering a comprehensive examination of a left-wing extremist community on Reddit known as ‘tankies’.

ML definitely has some tankies, not all, but some of the people there are lemmygradesque
That’s not what the article does if you read it though, although I understand why the title would make you think that.
The article defines tankies as a subgroup of extreme leftists, others which include anarchists (like me) and non-pro Stalin/Xi communists
I mean if you’re buying the apple version sold on their website a 5x market value instead of an off brand one that’s on you.
FYI a lot of people on Lemmy use the fact Jack Dorsey was involved in Bluesky as a way to attack it, but that’s not super accurate.
He completely left bluesky a year ago and even deleted his account, he has no involvement with it whatsoever anymore.
Bsky has 20 million users, which is great, basically doubled in a month, but twitter has hundreds of millions of users. We talking a different order of magnitude.
I can’t believe those people took Trump seriously. The same guy who literally instated a muslim ban and uses the words arab/muslim/terrorist interchangeably.
People downvote more liberally now. Reddit, the world, has become a more hateful place.
ALSO, the reddit algorithm promotes more downvoted content now because drama and fights boost engagement.
The fuck is happening in the past few weeks in china? Loads of these kinds of incidents all of a sudden?
