Summary
The Biden administration finalized a $6.6 billion award to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for its Arizona chip factories, securing CHIPS Act funding before President-elect Trump takes office.
TSMC plans to invest $65 billion in three Phoenix fabs, creating thousands of jobs and bolstering U.S. semiconductor production.
The funds, part of the $52.7 billion CHIPS Act, aim to reduce U.S. reliance on foreign-made chips.
Despite Trump’s criticism of the subsidies, the agreement is legally binding, ensuring continued progress on the largest foreign investment in U.S. manufacturing history.
I mean he straight up wouldn’t have lasted four years.
Well then you get Kamala for the rest of time period. Trump will be older than Biden when the former leaves office.
Biden also has a cabinet that is for the American people. Trump so far is trying to push in the island of misfit dolls as his cabinet.
Of course she’s better than Trump, but everything I’ve seen from her since the start of her campaign tells me Harris would’ve been a pretty bad president. Not really a desirable outcome.
When Trump is literally the only other option, yes it is. It’s incredibly desirable.
If not desirable, highly preferable at the very least.
I literally said she’s better than Trump exactly so I don’t get told “but Trump”. Of course I fucking know she wasn’t going to be worse than Trump that’s not what I’m fucking talking about.
I’m not telling you “but Trump”. I’m telling you the outcome that you said was undesirable IS the desired outcome in this situation. All of Harris’ qualifications and platform are wholly irrelevant when comparing her to Trump as to who is the better pick for governance.
Fuck fuck fuckety fuck.
Can you name one of her policies you thought was going to be bad?
Um… The border wall?
Yeah if she agreed to build more of that it would be stupid. Really most of the policies we need changed unfortunately are legislative. Immigration policy, subsidy changes, restrictions on how houses/rentals work. The only real thing that the president should be dealing with right now is foreign policy, encouraging the EPA to push for stricter guidelines and reforms and l how we can pay for systematic upgrades that keep up with the times, but they can’t do shit without Congress signing it now thanks to the SC. And oh, police reform. That’s one they could work on. Ultimately it would end up back at the legislative branch needing to write something, but that could be all based off the evidence and tactics developed and put together by the executive branch federally to create a uniform requirement to punishments and procedures when it comes to warranted/unwarranted searches, appropriate/inappropriate actions, penalties for breaking procedures and a standardized review company/board that is unbiased outside of the policing agency under the investigation. Once again, all would have to be written and signed in by Congress …
Tarrifs are a horrible idea, but subsidizing products or creating new pathways to good trade deals with countries that have the most people fleeing to America do to inflation issues would also be in our best interest. It would help those counties stabilize their economies, create jobs and thereby slowing the need to flee their country and eventually stabilize that region while building good relations and actually not being seen as terrible from outside sources looking to increase trade relations in the future.
Not to mention, shipping farm raised fish from the U.S. to China, to package them, and then have them shipped back to the U.S. just because labor costs seems ridiculous no matter what, but such items shipped to South America decreases fuel usage, and creates jobs as well.
South America is our neighbor, it’s time we treat them as such. Throw in legalizing weed, mushrooms, and maybe a couple other non issue drugs, and all the sudden we cut off a lot of entry level drug dealer sales. The more lower sales we cut, the less money we are feeding back into Mexicos cartels. The cartels lose money, slowly they lose power and Mexico stabilizes more and more. Trade builds jobs, their already decreasing population trying to come here decreases more and more, and they are able to invest more in securing their futures.
If Trump wanted to make America great, he’d start by realizing America is around 35 countries. For us to thrive, the rest must thrive around us.
