We were just taking about those today. My husband had aTRS-80. I had a C64 - played BC’s Quest for Tires for hours!
My cousin programmed a simple labyrinth game on my C64 by randomly placing symbols on the screen and you had to get the cursor from the upper left corner to the lower right without bumping into a symbol.
I was so impressed.
Ugh! Now I have the desire to play Super Star Trek. Because the cool kids in the computer club (they had very limited space in the computer room and I didn’t get in) got to play it on the mainframe teletype.
Happy cake day
As @cerement@slrpnk.net mentioned https://github.com/coding-horror/basic-computer-games/tree/main/84_Super_Star_Trek now you have no excuses 😆
You bastard! I have stuff to do today!
Well that just makes me think of EGA Trek.
and converting them to modern languages: Basic Computer Games
Oh nice 👍 😊
I was going to make a joke about rewriting them in Rust for memory safety, but it looks like that’s exactly what they’re doing (among other languages)
