Reminder that Sarah McBride is the first out transgender woman elected to congress. The Republicans are specifically targeting her and future transgender representatives by banning them their gendered restrooms of choice. As always, cruelty is the point.

This is definitely going to work. She’s going to be forced to use the men’s room. Where male House members will also be. She will have access to a space in Congress which no female House members have previously had.

How long will it take for the men in the House to decide that, no, they don’t like that a woman has been forced into their space by the Speaker?

That would take them recognizing her as a woman, which I hope they do but don’t think they will with their current base of support.

I hadn’t considered this before… but I think you’re absolutely right. It will literally silence any talk, and I guarantee it won’t be long before they call for a third bathroom…

Single unisex bathrooms, or unisex stalls with communal sinks, is really the only fair thing to do in all situations.

Why do I have to fucking shit next to some other dude??

Why do women have to wait on ridiculously long lines in public places, in situations where there’s only one or two men using the men’s room??
