Only thing I claimed was you missed the point of SomeAmateur, meaning one can understand global supply chain AND worry about depending on foreign entities using it in geo-politics, so mentioning counter measures (make some stuff ourselves for a change) is reasonable. I am wrong all the time by the way, I just adress a lot more in my comments which you choose to ignore. But alas, you are free to pick and choose just like everybody else.

We as a species make up terms on a daily basis, so I feel the liberty to do the same. Glad it doesnt give any results because it indicates original thought.

If large parts of the supply chain consist of suppliers (vendors) on the other side of the earth, one can focus on one vendor lock-in or one by one (for analytical purposes) and optimise for that but often the bigger picture of a complex supply chain is missed.

Hence the aggregated lock-in.

But to avoid futher confusion maybe supply-chain lock-in is a better term and yields searchs results.

Tell me you dont know how supply lock-in is a tool for geopolitics without telling me you dont know how supply lock-in is a tool for geopolitics.

Off topic slightly but for music VLC for Android is even better compared to its desktop sibling for the same purpose. I mean VLC for desktop will play anything and I dont deny how powerfull it is but afaik:

• it doesnt rescan automaticaly for added and removed music like a watchfolder.
• No native dark mode yet, yes a ton of dark mode themes, but they all are geared to video and lacking the medialibrary with album browsing.

Bit indeed for Android its super.

I think he meant save the actual notes themselves. Often necessary for sync engines to replicate the notes to other devices and manage version control.

It seems like a no-brainer but actually no.

Quick test would be for example if there are:

• at the beginning of the music library a lot of “no artist name” “no album name” entries, so the foldername isn’t used at all.
• a lot of artist with their own entry with just one album and one song because the actual albumartist collaborated on one song with them and the mp3 resides in the same folder but they got split in the library.
• if the player doesn’t show music which isn’t part of Playlist.

So my conclusion is their are even 3 types and corresponding mangement:

• Folder based requires file management
• Meta data based requires tag management
• Playlist based requires Playlist management

Often players make combinations also I guess.

A music player which “just plays whatever is in a directory”. Very handy for people having a media folder with artist folders and album subfolders. For the type of people, like myself, who focus more on tidy and disciplined storage of files instead of managing ID3 metadata etc

F-Droid changed the label to Non-Free Network Services because just linking from a POI to a booking site alone (without affiliate linking etc) isn’t the privacy nightmare fdroid wants it to be.

I could use OM my whole life without clicking links from POI and never is anything exchanged with Kayak or OM.

If one does a booking at Kayak then sure Kayak takes all kind of PII. OM wouldnt know btw.

Non free network label is assigned because OM app is dependent on OM providing mapdata. And one cant change that. Its like OSMand can provide for OM or vice versa.
