Kalki 2898 AD sounds fun. Have not heard of it. Will have to check it out. Cheers!
Remember, we got to loop it through Jones!

Falling Stars
This looks cool. Thanks!
It’s still a sci-fi movie, no? All post-apocalyptic movies are science fiction.
You’re also welcome to give your suggestions. 😄 These are the 2024 movies that I watched and thought fit the bill.
Less mainstream stuff:
For a second, I read that as remake of Fantastic Planet.
That would have been a plastic surgery disaster.
FWIW, the Lost World novel (on which the 2nd movie was based on) was solid. The movie was OK, but could have been much better.
This sounds like an interesting movie. Although I would hesitate to call it a documentary.
I can never say no to dystopian cyberpunk media.
For a second, I thought he was working on 1408, the horror movie with John Cusack based on a Stephan King story.
Some Japanese animation that may fit the bill:
This sounds exactly like my kind of movie. Not to mention it’s being made by Bong Joon Ho, made one of favourite movies (across all genres); Memory of a Murder.
While his later movies are excellent (Okja, Snowpiercer, Parasite), Memories of a Murder benefits from a more indie vibe, a less polished presentation and a more eclectic style. Check it out if you liked his later movies (I would recommend watching it in Korean with subtitles).
Let’s see how those plays out, hopefully it won’t be lame.
Btw, if you go in without any expectations, The Fly II is decent. Just don’t compare it to the Cronenberg release and take it for what it is.
I generally dislike musicals (with some exceptions like Dancer in the Dark and Moulin Rouge!), but the Back to the Future franchise seems like a bad fit for a musical.
More so than most franchises, Back to the Future feels very tied to the zeitgeist of its time (80s to early 90s).
Then again, they made Joker 2 a musical (I recently found out about this and had to double check that this wasn’t a joke).
If you approach it as an unintentional parody, it can be fun.
I have a feeling this is going to be terrible. Hopefully in a “so bad, it’s good” kind of way, but I have my doubts.
I watched the remake first and I actually liked it more than the original (marginally). The original was great, but I honestly thought the remake was more entertaining (and I have no issues watching “older” movies).
The second one was solid as well, but as often happens with sequels, it didn’t quiet match the first one.
That being said, I am looking forward to the third one.
No idea regarding automation, but you can get (some) 4K TV series off rutracker (a public tracker).

The site itself is in russian, but search queries in English work perfectly.
Content from English speaking countries almost always (literally around ~99.9% of the time) includes the original English audio track. You will have to manually set language priority in your video client as russian audio is set as the default track, but this should be easy to do.
Keep in mind that non-English movies/series will include the original audio and a russian dub/VO, English dub/VO will not be included. English subs are typically provided for non-English content.
