Yeah as a non-American I honestly just don’t have the energy to be worried/outraged about what’s going on in the US anymore. I’ve essentially been fretting about America since George W. Bush took office, and it just keeps getting worse. Now they’ve handed the presidency, house, senate, supreme court and the popular vote to Trump I just… don’t have it in me to engage in four more years of people endlessly tweeting about the horrible shit Trump is doing, while nobody does anything about it. Not to mention the decades afterwards it’ll take to clean this all up, if that’s even possible.

I use addy.io to create aliases for different things, and then set up filters in Thunderbird to mark them as they come in so, for example, if I make an account at xyz.com and then I get a bunch of unrelated spam marked as coming from xyz.com, then I know they’ve been selling my info.

I probably have about a dozen or so aliases currently, but they’re pretty loosely organized.

Also as a non-American, I don’t get how this is even a close election? To me it seems like the options are Competent Politician Who You May Not Agree With On Everything vs. Actual Cabal Of Demented Fascists, and it seems like it could genuinely go either way.

I have two, KDE on my laptop that runs Arch (btw) which is my tinkering machine, and GNOME/Pop!_OS on the desktop, which is the one other people use and I’m not allowed to break lol.

Although I might switch the desktop to COSMIC at some point if it doesn’t cause too much trouble.

Yeah I’m similar, I’m in for about $45 or so from the Kickstarter. I wrote it off and stopped paying attention about 6-7 years ago (it was already pretty far behind then!) but I figure, I’ve wasted more money on dumber stuff before, and if an actual game ever does happen to materialise then I’ll give it a look.

It was originally supposed to come out in about 2016 I think.

If it helps at all, I’m typing this on a Lenovo Ideadpad 5 that has a Ryzen 5 and 8gb that’s running up-to-date Arch (btw) and KDE perfectly well with no troubles at all. I haven’t owned the Yoga Slim specifically, but I’ve had a few Lenovos over the years and mine have all run various forms of Linux quite happily.

The Steam Deck sort-of has it on some games already, but it’s a bit hacky. I did get 60fps Cyberpunk going though, which was a nice surprise. It’ll be great to get a proper unified way of doing frame-gen though.

I assume this is the same reason why they want to ban TikTok but not Facebook - it’s not so much that they object to the data harvesting, they just object to non-American data harvesting that they can’t readily influence.

When they announced Steam Machines the first time, I thought it was a great idea because it would give PC devs a sort of baseline system to aim for, and then I was surprised when they launched and they were all sorts of different system specs. I’m still convinced that’s at least partly why they failed - if you buy a console like a Playstation or XBOX, part of the appeal is that you know exactly what you’re getting and what will run on it. If it says ‘PS5’, it’ll run on your PS5.

So hopefully if they try again it’ll be something along those lines, kind of like the Steam Deck.

It’s harder to measure of course, but I wonder how that compares to the amount of sales they lose from people who just don’t bother buying the game when they find out it has Denuvo? I know I recently lost all interest in two games (Civ VII and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II) when I found out they were launching with Denuvo and I assume I’m not the only person who does that.

I like Ventoy, it’s handy but I don’t think it’s indispensable so probably what I’ll do is go back to using Etcher (which is open source AFAIK) until this resolves itself one way or another. I assume either the dev will respond properly with an explanation and everything will be fine, or someone will get fed up enough to fork it. I feel like it’s probably nothing nefarious, but it doesn’t really hurt to be overly cautious in this case IMO.

This is one of the greatest scams that conservatives get away with IMO, not just in the US but it happens in the UK and other places too. Conservatives get in, go hog wild cutting taxes, selling off public assets and throwing huge contracts to their friends, and then as soon as the other side gets back in they find that they have to now balance the books, the conservatives start complaining and saying they’re the fiscally responsible ones.

It’s literally happening right now in the UK - we just got rid of the Tories finally after about 15 years, and the new Labour government immediately found a £20 billion hole in the economy which they now have to make harsh cuts to sort out, and they’re the ones getting criticized for it by the media.

Balatro (Steam, iOS, Android, Switch, PS4/5, Xbox One/X/S)

A deck-builder card game where you make poker hands, but Jokers and other cards give you crazy power-ups. I probably didn’t explain that very well, but it’s absurdly addictive. It’s like the perfect Steam Deck game.

Reddit has started getting a bit fucky with VPNs lately so maybe that’s the cause? I mean you could obviously go there without the VPN on, but also fuck them lol.
