No thanks. Bought 2020 back when MS said they wouldn’t release another flight sim and instead would run it like an online service.
They also told me they would have multicrew working in 2020 among a whole host of other undelivered promises.
Have fun, those of you who haven’t been burned yet.
They also said Windows 10 would go rolling release. They don’t really deserve anyone’s business for any product.
I’m not going to sit here, wag my finger, and preach the gospel of Linux. I find that kinda cringe. I use Linux, and if people ask for a recommendation I’ll happily give my opinion.
Don’t really see the point in standing on a soapbox and yelling at passersby that they’re sheeple or whatever, doesn’t really help make anyone want to switch, just like having someone yell at me to repent or burn in hell.
It’s a bad look.Hey, I switched to linux, too.
My personal way is to needle my buddies every time they complain about windows. 🤷♂️😅
TBF, upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is free, so it can reasonably be called a rolling release.
There’s was free upgrade from 7->8/10 as well, that doesn’t make it a rolling release.
2020 is Microsoft Loading Simulator.
Game is distributed through Steam, but doesn’t use the Steam update mechanism so every time I go to play I have to sit through a half hour of updates.
I just stopped playing it.
Might check out X-Plane at some point, I think they’ve made a lot of progress on their visuals.
Also check out Aerofly FS4
Damn, games are getting expensive.
Flight sims are cheap compared to the hardware to run them.
landing a 737 with a keyboard gang!
I feel like this game is a good candidate for xcloud if you have game pass. Don’t have to worry about high specs or downloading, and if you have a decent connection there’s some lag but not as necessary for this type of game. Thoughts?
Hard Pass. 2024 is almost over my dudes. This will be out of date in less than 2 months!

Flipping through the reviews, looks like they learned nothing from FS2020. Everyone still stuck in download simulator. If you’ve purchased this and gone over the 2 hour mark steam support is usually really quite lenient. I had about 10 hours in menu for FS2020 when I finally called it.
I’m excited to try this. I am waiting for reviews of how it runs on Linux and a small discount before I pick it up.
It does not run at all https://www.protondb.com/app/2537590
It’s already rated mostly negative, i’d give it a month or 3 before even contemplating buying it. Especially considering it’s between $90 and $250.
Game has been out for an hour or two? Isn’t that mostly “I cannot download or load it because the servers are overloaded” frustration reviews?
Anyway, always good to wait a little until the dust has settled.
As an MS2020 user, what you are describing is normal for the sim.
It’s because it happened when msfs released in 2020, and they have an easy solution… use steam/regular xbox download servers instead of the servers not designed for this kind of stress
Xplane is Linux native
Please allow several days before reviewers get through the loading and downloading screens
Edit: I fucking called it 🤡
Loading screen the game PT2
