Summary
Democrat Josh Stein has been elected as North Carolina’s first Jewish governor, defeating Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson in a race dominated by Robinson’s controversial remarks and extreme rhetoric.
Stein, the state’s attorney general, ran on a platform focused on his work against opioids, support for abortion rights, and opposition to unchecked Republican power.
Robinson’s campaign was marred by inflammatory comments about women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and racial minorities, as well as a CNN report linking him to a disturbing online persona, which he denied.
Robinson’s divisive profile ultimately led to a significant loss, with even Republican swing voters distancing themselves.
Not surprising
Literally the only good news.
Yay good news!
There is sanity in the world… well fool on you that just means Robinson has more time to devote to his first love… posting in the comment section of nude africa.
At least he’s not the Lt. Governor anymore.
unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be enough left over for the rest of the ballot there.
Every time I see this headline I think it’s saying Jill Stein, and I’m very confused.
No relation, thankfully!
The Robinson camp had checked out mid October. At the state fair, the third week in November, there was no one at his booth. I had seen only one sticker on one car the entire year.
Does that bode well for Harris taking the state?
Doesn’t seem so - Harris has really struggled to match local politician performances.
It’s still undecided but Trump has the lead.
Checking our local House elections this morning and seeing quite a bit of red. Stein is going to have a rough time like Cooper did, trying to get anything done. Luckily it looks like Dems are winning Attorney General and Lt. Governor (the position Robinson was).
