My guess is Biden meant Trump donors given Biden has always been friendly to Republican voters from the general public, there was an example of that recently.

Though wtf, why is Biden saying this such an issue and Trump literally said he’s going to send military against “enemies of the state”. Such bullshit double standards

Exactly my thoughts. True though it may be, denigrate the leader, not his followers. Kamala didn’t fall for that obvious trap in her Fox interview, and now Biden’s made up for that. You never call voters stupid. Especially when they very much are.

That’s one advantage Biden has right now: since he’s no longer running, he can speak the truth without it impacting his campaign.

Yeah, surely a party that calls their opponents criminals, pedophiles, paid actors, and cheaters repeatedly in every rally would be making a dire mistake that would remove them from any reasonable chance of contention.

Maybe civility politics is just a stupid illusion.

Y’all are forgetting that this whole thing is graded on a sliding scale. If Harris did 1 of the crazy things Trump does every damn day, this wouldn’t even be a close race. So yeah, Trump gets a pass for calling American citizens “trash,” but Harris would be torched for anything remotely similar.

Bit counterproductive when you’re trying to get some of the ones on the fence to vote Harris.

For real. I’m at the point where I’ve lost my tolerance for this whole situation. If we can’t collectively decide that this is a fucking ridiculous place to be as a country and make the only choice that has even a chance of getting us out of this mess then we need to hurry up and get the collapse over with. It’s utterly asinine that we are even having this conversation.

I heard a Trump leaning voter say on TV that the Trump rally joke about Puerto Rico made them switch to Harris. Yes something died inside me. Still there’s so much riding on this that I don’t care where the votes come from, as long as Harris goes over the line. 🥹

…yeah this is just gonna get them riled up. Name-cally bullshit is the right wing’s turf - if we play there, we lose every time.

This should have been a call to unity.

You can make harsh comments without petty insults.

Bonus points for leaving a way out, so people can feel their dignity to stay intact when leaving their position instead of feeling that they have to double down.

            Hundreds of years of slavery.

1m Americans died because they wanted to keep slavery.

100 more years of Jim Crow, slavery in another guise.

Hitler cited Jim Crow in Mein kampf as an example German genetic policies must follow.

Black GIs came back from fighting nazis in Europe to be lynched for being ‘uppity’.

Our mistake was not being too cruel, it was being too gentle.

Notice how Germany doesn’t have nazi statues everywhere.

Purge once, or suffer forever, we made the wrong choice, needed to let uncle Sherman finish his work.

I mean it could go either way really, lots of reports of people peeling off support already because of how extreme MAGA is, if they get riled up even more and really start shooting at the sky it could definitely accelerate that peeling.

It could also backfire, so who knows.

Mistake. No need to hurl insults back. Trump had dug his grave now you give him the opportunity to reach up from dead and pull you under.

Biden, you’ve always sucked. Glad one thing is for certain, you’ll be gone and I’ll never have to think about you again.

Listen, I can’t put numbers to it but the democrats have concession after concession trying to win over the MAGA undecided. Week before the election having an acting president put them down when Trump is already drowning is nonseniscal. This is an exact example why I can’t stand Biden. He trips over his own dick when there is absolutely no reason to.

They don’t have to win over “MAGA undecided,” whatever that means.

They just have to convince people who weren’t planning on voting to vote.

It’s what all the focus groups are about. It’s exactly who the campaign is targeting. If they just wanted turnout they would make headway on the Genocide in Gaza.

Because people who hold focus groups can predict that a MAGA comedian is going to call Puerto Rico a trash island at Trump’s big rally a few days before election day?

                  How can they do that?

With Biden being connected to the democratic party and directly connected to Harris, any critical comments may have a chance of being flipped back towards them. The MAGA campaign is just that maliciously vindictive.

A comment like that gave Trump fodder to try to spin it like he’s the good guy, despite all of this being initiated by a comic at his rally.

Trump and his campaign have been trying to shift the blame off of them. First, with saying that the joke (just one joke?) didn’t reflect the view of the campaign. Then, Trump mentioned in an interview that the comic probably shouldn’t have been there, yet he was able to finish his set, uninterrupted. Now Trump took Biden’s (misspoken) comment and compared it with Clinton’s previous, calling the supporters “deplorable”.
